Nebula Performances aims to organize events where emerging and professional performers can share their passion for music, collaborate with other artists, and connect with the community. In early May, we were thrilled to attend Vancouver Opera’s production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, with an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. The Nebula Team thoroughly enjoyed this captivating performance of one of Puccini’s most heartfelt, beloved love tragedies. Nebula Performances is very grateful for its friendship and deep connection with Music Director, Jacques Lacombe. Maestro Lacombe has generously worked with our musicians in a masterclass setting and is returning to Nebula this summer to be a part of the faculty for our Summer MusicFest. Here is the link to his interview, where he expands on his excitement for this festival: https://youtu.be/cXbXI_rr_nA

Nebula Chamber Music Workshop
Saturday, May 24 - 2:00 PM
Nebula is so excited to introduce a Chamber Music Workshop! This workshop welcomes all musicians who are passionate about exploring the Chamber Music genre and is also proud to team-up with the newly initiated Nebula Pianist Programme.
Led by Wenwen Du, this workshop features guest artists Chris Sho Mang Kim (violinist) and Calvin Yang (violist).
Chris Sho Mang Kim began violin studies at the age of nine in Korea and later trained under Robert Rozek. He has served as concertmaster and principal in the Stradivari Ensemble and worked as an associate member of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra. He also studied with renowned violinists Rudolf Koelman and Yehonatan Berick. As a dedicated teacher, Sho Mang helps students build a strong musical foundation through clear, structured instruction focused on developing technique and musicality.
Originally born in Taiwan, Calvin now resides in Vancouver, B.C. after completing Master of Music in Viola Performance from McGill University under the tutelage of André J. Roy. After a successful audition in May 2022, Calvin currently holds the position of Principal Viola with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly with many other orchestras in B.C. Aside from teaching, Calvin enjoys working with other musicians and is looking forward to collaborating with Nebula Performances.
This workshop also features four pianists from the Nebula Pianist Programme, Gabriel Moss, Yanis Hong, Alicja Rokita, and Jeremy Laity, along with guest musician Joon Jeong.
