After an incredible run of performances, we want to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who came through our doors, supported our artists, shared our production with friends and family, and helped make Nebula’s second opera production such a special experience.
From our opening night to our final curtain call, it was a privilege to bring this powerful work to our intimate stage and to share it with the Vancouver community. Leoncavallo's score moves effortlessly between soaring lyricism, tenderness, humour, and devastating intensity-music that brings us right into the hearts of these characters and leaves nowhere to hide from their emotions. We were deeply moved by the powerful performances our artists brought to this music and story, and by the energy and connection that filled Nebula each night. We are so grateful to our wonderful cast, musicians, creative team, artistic team, volunteers, and audiences who made I Pagliacci possible.
And now, we’re turning the page to something completely different.

What makes Simply Lyrical especially exciting is the way these musicians have come together to share music they genuinely love.
Trombonist Jeremy Berkman, who performs alongside harpist Janelle Nadeau, guitarist Josue Tacoronte, and the rest of the ensemble, shared this reflection on the upcoming concert:
“Janelle and I feel so blessed that for a couple weeks each year amazing guitarist Josue Tacoronte visits Vancouver to primarily work intensely with the Flamenco dance community, but he has carved out time for us to develop a program that is inspired by Josue's expertise, and yet also is inclusive of the work Janelle and I play as members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra.
Nebula Performances is the PERFECT venue for such a sharing of music-making and exploration. There aren't many seats, as the space is meant to feel like a large living room! So if you'd consider spending 75 minutes in our company, sharing in music we love to play and explore—please join us!”
Following the success of our debut Simply Lyrical concert this spring, we’re bringing this intimate and wonderfully eclectic celebration of Spanish music back to Nebula.
From the soaring voices of opera singers to the warmth of flamenco guitar, the rhythm and movement of flamenco dance, the richness of double bass, the colour of trombone and harp, and the artistry of piano, this concert brings together a surprising combination of sounds, artists, and traditions.
What connects it all is the beauty of the melody—music that is passionate, lyrical, soulful, and deeply expressive.
Simply Lyrical is also about the joy of musicians sharing what they love. Each artist brings their own musical world to the stage, creating something greater than the sum of its parts: a heartfelt, vibrant, and beautifully eclectic musical experience.
Come expecting to be surprised, moved, and swept away by the sounds of Spain and the Spanish-speaking regions of the world.
