Final Tickets - Ian Bostridge & Wenwen Du in Ottawa & Vancouver

“I hope they will not draw breath from beginning to end of each half, that we will draw them in, that their attention will be held without a dip and that they will be moved. Each half is an arc, the song equivalent of the sort of journey you make when you listen to a great symphony. This is some of the most profound and extraordinary music ever written.”— Ian Bostridge

“I think this is a programme that you don’t hear very often… It’s not just a musical journey, but a shared human experience we all go through together from beginning to end, for both performers and audiences.”— Wenwen Du

Internationally acclaimed tenor Ian Bostridge and pianist Wenwen Du return to Canada this May for two highly anticipated performances, presented by Nebula Performances.

Celebrated for their depth of interpretation and distinctive artistic voice, Bostridge and Du bring a rare level of intensity and insight to the art song repertoire. Their long-standing collaboration is shaped by a shared commitment to storytelling through music — where text, voice, and piano exist in constant, expressive dialogue.

This season’s program explores two defining composers of art song: Benjamin Britten and Hugo Wolf. Audiences will experience Britten’s Holy Sonnets of John Donne in full, alongside selections from Wolf’s Goethe-Lieder — works that demand both technical precision and emotional depth.

These performances mark a meaningful return to both cities: a three-year return to Ottawa and a ten-year return to Vancouver, following past appearances that left a lasting impression on audiences.
