🌸✨ Celebrating Community, Music, and a New Season at Nebula

🧧 Happy Chinese New Year from Nebula Performances

As we welcome the New Year, everyone at Nebula Performances wishes our community joy, health, and renewed inspiration in the year ahead. This season is a time for reflection, renewal, and gathering with those who bring meaning to our lives - values that resonate deeply with Nebula’s mission of connection through music and shared artistic experience.

We are grateful to begin another vibrant chapter together and look forward to continuing to create spaces where artists and audiences can meet, celebrate, and grow.

❤️ Valentine’s Concert Wrap-Up: Nebula in Love

Our Nebula in Love concert on February 14 was a heartfelt and unforgettable evening celebrating the many forms of love through music. Shaped by connection between friends, chosen family, artists, and kindred spirits, the evening reflected Nebula’s vision of love as expansive, poetic, and shared. The hall was filled with warmth, connection, and expressive storytelling as audiences experienced a versatile program curated by Artistic Director Wenwen Du, spanning beloved opera highlights, celebrated musical theatre selections, love-themed art songs across multiple languages and cultures, as well as piano and chamber works.

The performance brought together an exceptional group of local artists, whose collaboration created an atmosphere both intimate and celebratory. The evening concluded with Nebula’s signature after-party, where performers and audience members connected, shared reflections, and extended the spirit of the concert beyond the stage.

We extend special recognition to Executive Producer Alice Chee and Director Lynol Amaro, whose leadership and vision continue to shape Nebula as a welcoming artistic home for both emerging and established artists.

Special thank you to our board member Francis Lamer for his support.

Nebula continues to glow from this beautiful evening, and we thank everyone who joined us in making it so meaningful.

🎭 David Walsh Returns to Nebula: March Opera Project

Nebula Performances is delighted to welcome back internationally acclaimed stage director David Walsh for an intensive week of opera workshops, lectures, and performance taking place March 8–14 at the Nebula Performance Hall.

Walsh first collaborated with Nebula last summer through his celebrated production of La Tragédie de Carmen, which received critical recognition from Opera Canada. The review noted how Walsh distilled Bizet’s opera into its essential tragic core while bringing a fresh contemporary perspective that resonated strongly with audiences in Nebula’s intimate performance space.

Since that first collaboration, Walsh has continued working closely with Nebula artists through masterclasses and training initiatives, developing an ongoing artistic relationship grounded in mentorship, exploration, and professional growth. Inspired by the depth of talent and artistic curiosity within the Nebula community, he now returns to expand this work through a week-long immersive opera project.

🍿 Movie Night Wrap-Up: Amadeus

Nebula Movie Nights continue to grow as one of our community’s most beloved gatherings. Our recent screening of Amadeus was filled with laughter, conversation, and shared appreciation for one of classical music’s most iconic films.

With cozy seating, great company, and thoughtfully prepared snacks, the evening reminded us that artistic connection happens just as meaningfully offstage as it does in performance.

We invite everyone to join future screenings and help shape upcoming selections.

💽 Vinyl Night at Nebula

On February 25th, Nebula hosted a special Vinyl Night, an intimate evening dedicated to celebrating both the next generation of local artistry and the legendary musicians whose recordings continue to inspire audiences today. Guests gathered for a relaxed and immersive listening experience, sharing beautiful sound and meaningful conversation in a welcoming community atmosphere.

The evening featured a thoughtfully curated selection of historic opera recordings generously shared by longtime Nebula supporter, photographer, and avid collector James Yang, who brought and set up his personal vinyl sound system specially for the occasion. The listening session showcased iconic voices including Enrico Caruso, Franco Corelli, Anna Moffo, and Montserrat Caballé, allowing audiences to experience these legendary performances through the warmth and richness of analog sound.

Vinyl Night offered a unique opportunity to slow down, listen deeply, and connect through a shared appreciation of musical history, further reflecting Nebula’s commitment to honoring artistic legacy while fostering community.

🌟 Looking Ahead

As we move further into the year, Nebula Performances remains deeply grateful for the artists, audiences, and supporters who continue to grow alongside us. From concerts and workshops to film nights and collaborations, each gathering strengthens the community we are building together.

We look forward to welcoming you again soon at Nebula.
